Because of the highly specialized nature of minimally invasive joint replacement surgery Todd  Swanson M.D. is routinely called on to provide surgical treatment and consultation to out-of-town and international patients.  As one of the innovators of minimally invasive joint replacement techniques, he teaches these techniques to other surgeons around the world.

  • Hospital stays for minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery typically range from 1 to 3 days.
  • Patients are usually bearing their full weight, with a walker or crutches for balance by the  first day after hip or knee surgery. They should be prepared to fly in as few as 7-10 days following surgery.
  • While patients exhibit a broad range in achieving full recovery, most report being able to return to work on “light duty” within 1-2 weeks and more active occupations in 3-4 weeks.
  • Feel free to call Dr. Swanson’s office at (702) 697-7249 and speak with Kim with any questions regarding visits for surgical care.
